Our Ministers

Dr. Jim Turrell graduated from California State University Los Angeles in 1968 with a BA in Music and a Teaching Credential. He taught in Los Angeles, Burbank, and San Clemente, California from 1968 to 1985 and worked as a professional musician from 1966 to 1990. Dr. Jim Turrell started his studies of the Science of Mind® in 1972. He completed six years of class work and became a minister and was selected to be the Senior Pastor of the Cape Coral Center for Spiritual Living and served that congregation for three years. He was ordained in 1987 and received his Doctorate in 2003. As Founder and Pastor, Dr. Jim Turrell started the Center for Spiritual Living Newport-Mesa in 1987. A thriving and sacred work, the Center is home to hundreds of members and friends. Dr. Jim has served on the Board of Directors of Religious Science International and has been a featured speaker at their national conferences. Dr. Jim is the author of five books, “The Way I Am”, “When It’s Time to Leave”, “Instant Public Speaking from the Heart”, “The Gospel of Cause and Effect”, and “Socrates’ Secret” You can find the first four books listed on Amazon.com.

Rev. Janet Moore is a third generation Religious Science minister.  Her passion is sharing this philosophy with adults and teens in order to help them create a more prosperous, successful, life.  Janet has been the Teen director at this center since 2001 and has been a licensed practitioner since 2008.  Rev. Janet has helped countless adults and youth overcome illnesses, achieve their goals and expand their consciousness through the power of prayer.  Rev. Janet is the assistant minister and the Youth and Family minister here at our center and is available for speaking, counseling, workshops, weddings and funerals.  Janet is passionate about helping others create a life that is filled with prosperity, health and joy. In 2020, she was awarded the Minister’s Meritorious Award by the Centers for Spiritual Living.
